I would agree with your version of the song. The details I would add are as follows:

o There is a narco leader called La Perra and this might also be an allusion to him, but also to the government. My teacher and I both agreed that the dog is the alliance between the government and the narcos. Sometimes more the government and some times more the narcos.

o An example of this would be at the end of the song where the farmer is bitten by the dog. "[A]unque el no este acuerdo" for my teacher and me represented people falling into drug the drug trade ( by being bitten by the dog ( narcos). They are on the border ( where drug are notorious ) and it is already understood that the farmer is at the border because he is desperate and needs to cross to find a job, and this is a natural progression here in Mexico..

o Also, of course the fox is Fox, but it is more important than just that. With the presidency of Fox the 70 some years of PRI rule was broken, which was a seeming good thing, but now ( as reflected in the election in July) PRI is once again a valid, democratic party and is free to resume power once again.

o Additionally, los puerquitos are not only the PANista. They are all politicians in Mexico. Almost all of them benefit financially from being in power, while the people continue to live in poverty.

This song is great and if it doesnt get the message across then i do not know what does. I dont know why the Mexican Govt is banning the song its not like the mexican people dont know what goes on day to day in their country. Hopefully they find a solution to this quickly because its not fair that the people are the ones suffering from an unstable corrupt govt.

I would like to correct some of what has been stated so far.

La Perra refers to the narco cartels, and more specifically to the Sinaloa cartel.

The song explains the stupidity of the Mexican government, and more specifically Calderon for directly confronting the cartels. The cartels in Mexico have for years tried to keep a low profile, and remain in the shadows. Everyone knew they were there but they were "amarrados, " it was more convenient to not flex their muscles, but once they were let loose there is no stopping them until only one is left.

In the meantime it's the granjero (the Mexican laborers) that are caught in the cross fire, trapped by the wall that was erected on the border to keep them in. The fox is Vicente Fox who came to "romper los platos" which means mess things up. He made the mistake of declaring war against the drug cartels. However, he is well known to have complicity with the Sinaloa Cartel. He is also rumored to have helped El Chapo Guzman escape from prison to "armar un gran relajo". All of this meddling by Fox caused the cartels to come out of the shadows, since they were being taken apart by the Fox government.

El Gavilan refers to El Guerro Palma, who's airplane crash landed and he was arrested by the military, traveling away from the site in a large police convoy. This was a major point in the fighting between cartels, as his capture was blamed on rivals.

Well, I´m between two meanings of this song, of course it has a political background, but I support the theory of Mario. I believe this song is about Narcotrafic. It’s strange but this song has not been banned from the radios, I just hear it a couple of days ago. Furthermore, this song has nothing to do with PRI.
P.D. Corridos are not ballads; it’s more about stories of Mexico that came to be songs after the Revolution of 1910. There is a subdivision of Corridos, which are tha Narco Corridos, this are songs that are entirely related to narcotrafic in Mexico.

I think you are right on the song and its message. The carteles were in the shadows but since the Mex Gov declared war against them by nature they fought back and its getting out of hand in Culiacan,Sin and the rest f Mexico.

The "hawk" part is the supposed accident where the second in charge in Mexico's Government died, Juan Camilo Mouriño. Word says he was blown down by the drugdealers.

I just listened to the song but i agree with most of the comments on this blog except for the fact that song portrays the situation that the government made a mistake when in fact it did its job and that yeah there will be a period of insecurity but consider how secure mexico was before all this it better to fight a war than to live in fear.

What is meant by "tie up the dog"? Are the only options for the Mexican government to confront the cartels with force or allow business as usual? Why not legalization? Tame the dog.
